EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The trainer of Benburb, the longshot winner of the Molson Million at Woodbine, said the 3-year-old will probably run in the $500,000 Pegasus at the Meadowlands on Sept. 25.
Benburb, who didn’t win a race as a 2-year-old, has won four of seven starts this year for the Canadian-based Knob Hill Stables and trainer Phil England. In winning the Molson Million on Saturday, the Dr. Carter colt defeated Belmont Stakes winner A.P. Indy, Haskell winner Technology and Queen’s Plate winner Alydeed.
Thirty-two 3-year-olds were nominated to the Grade I, 1 1/8-mile Pegasus.
Another likely starter is Nines Wild, the runner-up to Technology in the Haskell at Monmouth Park in August.
