Claremont : New Name for Padua Avenue

Padua Avenue between Foothill Boulevard and Base Line Road will be renamed Monte Vista Avenue in late October.
The City Council unanimously approved the new name Tuesday to bring consistency to the Monte Vista Avenue extension project, which will extend the avenue from Arrow Highway in Montclair through Upland to Foothill Boulevard.
Monte Vista Avenue was the original name of Padua Avenue in Claremont. The street’s designation changed in the 1940s to allow visitors traveling on Route 66, or Foothill Boulevard, to find the now-closed Padua Hills Theatre.
