BURBANK : Man Sought After Woman Fatally Shot
A 32-year-old Pomona man shot his estranged wife and killed her sister in a Burbank apartment Thursday, the Burbank Police Department said.
The women were discovered about 5:30 p.m. in an apartment in the 300 block of Providencia Avenue, Lt. Art Moody said. One of the women, who was critically wounded, was the estranged wife of the suspect, Ricardo Rodriguez, said Sgt. Doyle Holm.
Rodriguez allegedly told a family member that he was planning to reconcile with his estranged wife, but the meeting turned violent and Rodriguez shot the women , Moody said.
The sisters were taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank where one died of multiple gunshot wounds to her chest, nursing supervisor Betty Nielson said. The other woman was listed in very critical condition with a gunshot wound to her head.
Rodriguez was described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 165 pounds, with blond hair, blue eyes and a thin mustache, Moody said. He was dressed in a short-sleeve beige shirt, brown pants, a white cowboy hat, boots and a large silver belt buckle, police said.
Rodriguez was last seen driving in an unknown direction in a reddish-brown, 1987 Dodge Colt with California license plate 3ABV514, police said. He was believed to be armed with a pistol used to shoot the women, Moody said.
