Rain slowed the field on the second day of qualifying, enabling Formula One champion Nigel Mansell to maintain the pole position for today’s Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Franorchamps, Belgium.
Mansell, a winner in eight of 11 races this season for Williams-Renault, was about 20 m.p.h. slower than the 141.123 he posted a day earlier on the 4.31-mile road course. The pole was the British driver’s 10th in 12th tries this season, and the 29th of his career.
