After First Volley, Coach Returns Fire

In Eric Shepard’s article (Boys’ Volleyball Bucks Trend, Aug. 13), it should be noted that the sport, in spite of its fabulous growth, still does not have a state playoff as girls’ volleyball does. The CIF code states that if a sport is sanctioned in at least three CIF sections, a tournament can be held.
Right now there are five (maybe six) sections that are sanctioned. But because three times as many girls play, because it would imbalance the number of playoffs between boys and girls. . . .
Sound like political volleyball?
