SAN DIEGO : College Student Dies in Accident
A 21-year-old college student was killed in Old Town when the car in which she was riding lost control on Interstate 5 and struck a tree, authorities said Monday.
Khanitha Chanthrathip, 21, of Chollas Heights was pronounced dead at the scene of the Saturday morning accident between Washington Street and Old Town Avenue, the California Highway Patrol said. The victim attended San Diego City College.
CHP investigators said the victim’s brother, Anousa Chanthrathip, 22, was driving when the accident occurred about 5 a.m. Authorities had not determined why Anousa lost control of the car.
He was in fair condition Monday at UC San Diego Medical Center, a nursing supervisor said.
