Commercial Blunders

It is unfortunate that NBC did not demonstrate a little more taste as the network interrupted its commercials with segments of the Olympic Opening Ceremonies from Barcelona.

At the climax of the program NBC informed us next up would be an offering from Spain’s great stars of the opera. But first... .

When the program resumes, we hear the closing strains of an operatic melody. After a few badly photographed selections, we break away again with the opening notes of what may have been Verdi’s magnificent music from “Aida.”
