When Pupils Are Moved

I feel there are serious social and emotional consequences associated with the Moorpark School District’s policy of having our youngest children change school every two or three years. I don’t think it’s beneficial to transfer young children away from their familiar school for an opportunity to attend a “pre-junior high school” at the age of 8 or 9. Unfortunately, I have no other alternative but to participate in this district’s unsubstantiated experiment in non-traditional grade school transfer due to Moorpark’s abnormal grade school configurations.

It seems that there is a prevailing attitude in the educational community that the school administrators and teachers should decide what is best for all of the children. I hope that the district and the school board will realize that the desires and requests of the parents should be preeminent.
