2 Face Mail Theft Counts After Chase

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Two men led police on a brief car chase after an officer saw them stealing mail from boxes along two streets, police said.
Residents told police they saw two men stealing mail along Newbury Drive and Littefield Drive in western Huntington Beach, Lt. Luis Ochoa said.
When an officer drove to the area to investigate, he saw the men, who drove away, leading the officer on a chase that ended near Graham Street and Heil Avenue, Ochoa said.
During the pursuit, the officer said, he saw one of the people in the car toss items out of it.
Police arrested Reuben A. Gilliam, 33, of Lynwood and Steven Frank Buchanan, 41, of Gardena after the 11 a.m. incident, Ochoa said. The investigation is continuing.
