Don Prudhomme, John Force and Warren Johnson won in the fifth annual Autolite Nationals at Sears Point International Raceway in Sonoma. Prudhomme won the top fuel title in 4.912 seconds, at 286.8 m.p.h.
Force won the funny car title and Johnson the pro stock.
