Proposed Cut in Teachers’ Pay
Are law enforcement, prison, fire, or other public service employees so closely linked to the general public forced to take a 14% to 17% pay cut? No! But teachers are.
Maybe if teachers simply followed the education codes and did only what was legally required, such as take attendance--rather than teach--the system might collapse under its own weight.
Maybe if teachers really followed all the rules in those weighty faculty handbooks--rather than teach--everything might come to a screeching halt until the voting public became mad enough to direct its ire at the LAUSD and Sacramento.
Would the kids be the pawns? You’re damn right they would. But they’re the pawns anyway.
