‘Mo’ Money’ Takes In Most Money
Three of the weekend’s Top 5 movies are headlined by African-American stars, a rare, if not unprecedented situation in Hollywood. In first place was “Mo’ Money,†headed by Damon Wayans (of TV’s “In Living Colorâ€). The movie, trounced by many critics for lameness and insensitivity, nevertheless, pushed “Honey, I Blew Up the Kid†to second place.
Whoopi Goldberg’s “Sister Act†hit a whopping $105 million while grosses for Eddie Murphy’s “Boomerang†took a sharp 44% drop.
* There was no saving “Mom and Dad Save the World,†which Warner Bros. had long delayed releasing. It proved an outright flop.
