Democratic Convention

I am so sick of hearing how good it is that the Democratic Party is moving toward the center. By any reasonably honest system of measurement the Democratic Party moved through the center going to the right years ago.
Who are these failed “liberal” nominees we keep hearing about? Michael Dukakis, who shunned the label “liberal” and who claimed the issue was competency, not ideology? Jimmy Carter, the Southern Baptist who started the arms buildup that Ronald Reagan continued? I suppose Walter Mondale was a liberal, but I’ve always thought it was his association with Carter that lost him the election.
If Bill Clinton loses the election, I’m sure the party bosses and the PACs will say it was because Clinton was too liberal. They won’t be happy until the Democrats nominate Hitler.
