Ballot Measure for More Police
For years former Police Chief Daryl Gates begged and pleaded for more police officers to be assigned to the Los Angeles Police Department. Time after time he referred to the fact that our police force was badly understaffed. Now that Gates has retired, we hear from Bradley and new Chief Willie Williams that they are initiating a ballot measure to appear on the November ballot. This measure would impose a new tax on homeowners in the city in order to acquire new police officers. The taxpayer would be asked to pay $99 yearly to augment this addition.
My question is, why now? Why wasn’t this done years ago when Gates pleaded for additional officers? Was this the result of the childish, immature relationship the mayor had with those who wouldn’t kowtow to his every whim?
A recall of the mayor is most certainly called for due to his mismanagement of the mayor’s office and neglect of our city.
