Hollywood : Chamber Director Quits
T. J. Baptie, director of corporate relations for the Walt Disney Co., resigned from the board of directors of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on Monday, charging that the leadership of the organization has become “paralyzed by its own ineptness.â€
She also said she would recommend that the Disney Co. drop its membership in the organization, which has declined in membership from more than 1,400 to less than 1,000 in recent years.
In a letter to members of the board, Baptie protested the failure of the leadership to call a board meeting to discuss its award to KTLA (Channel 5) of a contract to broadcast the Hollywood Christmas Parade. The contract provides a major source of revenue for the organization.
Instead, directors were asked by phone to authorize a negotiating committee to conclude a deal in advance.
