Westchester : $44,530 in LMU Scholarships

Loyola Marymount University has received $44,530 from the Catholic Press Council for scholarships in the field of communications.

According to a campus official, the gift represented the entire treasury of the council and marked the dissolution of the organization, which had been moribund for more than a year.

Founded in 1950, the council had provided scholarships in communications.

The first scholarships at Loyola Marymount will be awarded in the fall of 1993.

Candidates must be seniors or graduate students in communication arts who have creative promise and have demonstrated productivity, the official said.
