Balanced Budget Amendment
The balanced budget amendment was defeated in the House of Representatives (June 12). The vote was 280 yes and 153 no, nine short of the two-thirds majority needed to pass. Supporting the amendment were 164 Republicans and 116 Democrats. The no votes were 150 Democrats, two Republicans and one independent.
If there was ever any doubt as to which party is responsible for our huge national debt, it’s now been made clear.
