Beverly Hills : New Hours for City Offices
- Share via
City offices will be open longer Monday through Thursday but close every other Friday beginning in mid-July to meet regional air quality improvement requirements. Emergency services and trash pickup schedules will not be affected by the change.
Starting July 13, city offices will be open 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on alternate Fridays. City offices will close on alternate Fridays, with the first closed Friday on July 24.
The change in hours will be implemented at City Hall, Fire Department Administration Office, Fire Prevention Bureau, Vehicle Maintenance Division, Building Maintenance Divsion, Public Works Service Center, Street Maintenance Division and the Water Division.
The change in operating hours does not apply to emergency services, trash pickup and the Beverly Hills Public Library. All emergency services, such as police and fire, will not be affected, and the trash pickup schedule remains the same. The library will continue its regular hours, seven days per week.
The City Council approved the changes Tuesday to meet requirements for air quality improvements set by the South Coast Air Quality Management District. The change is intended to reduce commuter trips for city employees and make city services more accessible to residents because of the longer hours, Deputy City Manager Peggy Curran said.
West Hollywood, Santa Monica and Culver City, and some departments of the city and county of Los Angeles have already implemented similar changes.
Beverly Hills will close on the same alternate Fridays as the other three cities.
