Pilot Who Changed Sex Is Reinstated: A Continental Airlines pilot fired for having a sex-change operation will begin flight retraining next week after settling a job discrimination suit, newspapers reported. The settlement will reinstate Jessica Sterns, formerly known as John Stearns, as a first officer for the Houston-based airline, flying Boeing 727 and 737 aircraft, according to papers in Houston and Trenton, N.J. Continental officials in Houston and Stearns’ attorney, Kim Otis, declined comment, saying terms of the settlement are secret.
