VISTA : Mother, Daughter Found Dead in Car
Authorities are investigating the deaths of a pregnant woman and her 3-year-old daughter, whose bodies were found in a car in a garage in Vista.
The woman’s former boyfriend is being sought for questioning, authorities said Saturday.
San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies made the grim discovery Friday evening after a neighbor reported a strange smell coming from the garage of a townhouse in the 1000 block of Arena Circle, according to Lt. Marshall Bear.
The dead were identified as 24-year-old Susan Belasco of San Diego and her daughter, Melinda. Belasco, who was seven-months pregnant, had been reported missing by her family Monday.
Coroner’s investigators were conducting toxicology tests Saturday to determine the cause of death, authorities said.
Belasco’s body was found in the garage of a duplex belonging to her former boyfriend, Thierry Gaitaud, Bear said. Gaitaud has not been seen since Tuesday and may be driving a burgundy Ford Escort with Virginia license plates, deputies said.
It was not clear how long the bodies had been in the car or how Belasco and her daughter died.
