Hawaii Opens Doors to Firm
IRVINE — Securities regulators in Hawaii have reached a settlement with American Wireless Systems Inc. that will allow the company to do business in that state, a government official said this past week.
Neal Aoki, attorney with the Securities Enforcement unit of the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, said details of the settlement are confidential. He said, however, that the deal will result in the lifting of a cease-and-desist order issued against American Wireless Systems in April.
American Wireless Systems is selling general partnerships to finance the building of so-called wireless cable-TV systems, which can broadcast up to 33 channels of pay-TV into homes via microwave radio transmissions.
