Miguel Indurain of Spain, last year’s Tour de France winner, virtually clinched the Tour of Italy title with a fourth-place finish in Friday’s 20th stage. Defending champion Franco Chioccioli of Italy won the leg, his first victory in this year’s tour, by edging Claudio Chiappucci, Massimiliano Lelli and Indurain in a four-way sprint to the finish.
American Andy Hampsten advanced to fifth place overall.
