IRVINE : Hazardous Waste Roundup Saturday
The city will hold its summer roundup of household hazardous wastes from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the city yard.
The roundup allows residents to safely dispose of motor oil, gasoline, paints, pesticides, pool cleaners and other toxic chemicals that cannot legally be left for curbside trash pickup or dumped down the drain.
The city will accept all household toxics except radioactive material, explosive material and compressed gas cylinders.
Toxic material may be brought to the city’s Operations Support Facility at 15029 Sand Canyon Ave., preferably in its original container.
There is no fee for the roundup, but a driver’s license, utility bill or other identification proving Irvine residency will be required.
In addition, the city would like residents to note that it is illegal to transport more than 5 gallons of toxic liquid or more than 50 pounds of solid hazardous waste in a private automobile. For further information, call (714) 724-7669.
