POLL MAN: Perot likes to assert that he does not believe in polls, but he actually is a copious student of opinion surveys--not so much to decide what to stand for but to use them as tools in refining his campaign strategy and style. . . . For instance, to help sharpen his still-developing stump speech, Perot dispatched pollster Frank Luntz to his recent rally in Orlando, Fla., to survey audience reaction to his remarks. Luntz and an aide scurried around the State Fair pavilion where Perot spoke, handing out questionnaires to hundreds of his listeners. . . . No word yet on what they found.
