Driver of Car That Struck and Killed Man Is Sought
Oxnard police were searching Sunday for the driver of a white and blue Ford Thunderbird who witnesses say ran over and killed a 22-year-old Oxnard man as he crossed the street.
Miguel Aburto Visoso and another man were walking across East 5th Street near Mountain View Avenue about 9:15 p.m. Saturday when Visoso was struck by the Thunderbird, traffic investigator Humberto Jimenez said.
After striking Visoso, the vehicle ran off the road and struck a telephone pole, Jimenez said. The driver fled immediately on foot, Jimenez said.
Visoso suffered major head injuries in the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene about 9:30 p.m., Deputy Coroner Dale Zentzis said.
Witnesses, including the victim’s 20-year-old brother and others, saw the suspect flee, Jimenez said.
Several said they could identify the suspect, Jimenez said, although no arrests were made Sunday.
