Wal-Mart Holds Annual Meeting: The annual meeting of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. turned into a memorial with 10,000 people gathering to honor founder Sam Walton two months after his death. The Barnhill Arena at the University of Arkansas was filled to capacity, with the overflow crowd moving to a room equipped with closed-circuit television. At the meeting, 14 directors were elected, including 13 who were reelected.
