Northeast Los Angeles : Cleanup Volunteers Needed
- Share via
Volunteers are being sought for a Los Angeles River trash cleanup Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at three Glendale area locations.
The Friends of the Los Angeles River and a number of other environmental groups and corporations are sponsoring the cleanup along “living” sections of the river where there is no concrete bottom.
The sites will be marked by blue balloons. One will be at the northern edge of Griffith Park, north of the Ventura Freeway and east of the equestrian center. Another will be in the Elysian Valley area, north of Riverside Drive near Dodger Stadium. The third will be in Atwater Village by the Los Feliz Boulevard Bridge, east of the Golden State Freeway.
Volunteers should wear gloves, hats and “sensible” shoes. High school bands will provide work music, and there will be free soft drinks.
For information, call the Friends of the Los Angeles River at (213) 223-0585.
