CCI Signs Two Players for Basketball Team

IRVINE — Jason Neben, a former three-sport standout at Orange Lutheran High, and Josh Whelihan, a two-time All-Sea View League selection at University High, have signed to play basketball at Christ College Irvine, Coach Greg Marshall announced Thursday.
Neben, a 6-foot-2 guard, is transferring from Cal State Fullerton, which he originally attended to play football. He did not play basketball for the Titans. A 1989 graduate of Orange Lutheran, Neben is sixth on the county’s all-time high school rushing list with 3,745 yards. He averaged 13 points as a senior and qualified for the State meet in the long jump.
Whelihan averaged 15.6 points this season and won the team’s Desire, Dedication and Determination Award.
