Salvadoran Teachers to Strike for Higher Pay

SAN SALVADOR — El Salvador’s largest teachers’ trade union said Thursday that next week, it will begin strike action to back wage demands.
The ANDES-21 union, which represents most public-sector teachers, said the strike will start Monday and continue until demands are met.
Education Minister Cecilia Gallardo de Cano warned Wednesday that any strike action will be met by a suspension of wage negotiations that began after a one-week stoppage in early April.
