PARKER, Tex. — For Sale: Ranch with 42 acres. Two-story house, 5,931 sq. ft. Former home of the Ewing family: J. R., Bobby, Jock, Miss Ellie. . . .
Oh, that ranch. Southfork.
“On a deal of this magnitude, I’m not expecting more than 20 serious bidders,” Trey Trammell of Progressive Auctions said of today’s auction.
“It was a thoroughbred breeding farm until Lorimar (Productions) knocked on the door in about ‘78, and you know what happened after that,” former owner J. R. Duncan said.
After Duncan sold the ranch in 1984, it became a tourist attraction, but the owners defaulted on an $8.2-million loan.
