“The Rise of the Hip-Hop Civilization . . . and Its Discontents,” a multimedia art installation sponsored by Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions, opens tonight at the second level of the Hollywood Galaxy, 7021 Hollywood Blvd. It runs through June 13.
The installation--created by various members of the multimedia arts group Earth Crew--features a number of video monitors mounted on a free-standing maze of walls and fences, and together, those monitors create a dialogue on the controversy over street art.
It also features a number of graffiti murals and hip-hop music.
A 5-7 p.m. opening reception will feature local underground deejays, rap artists and break dancers.
Information: (213) 624-5650.
