Culver City : Freeway Shooter Sought

Police are seeking help in solving a freeway shooting near the Fox Hills Mall that left a 26-year-old tow-truck driver in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head.
Amir Malekzadeh was talking with a co-worker in the back of Redwood Towing at 9:30 p.m. May 21 when he was struck by a bullet fired from a light-blue car traveling on an elevated transition ramp from the northbound San Diego Freeway (405) to the westbound Marina Freeway (90), witnesses told Culver City Police.
Malekzadeh, a resident of West Los Angeles, was rushed to UCLA Medical Center, where he underwent brain surgery and remains unconscious and in critical condition, according to Sgt. Hank Davies.
The tow yard is located at 5722 Bankfield Ave., a dead-end street across from the Fox Hills Mall.
“We’re hoping someone saw the car that night,” Davies said. “The driver may have brandished the weapon before or after the shooting.”
The car was described as a large American-made four-door vehicle.
