SAN DIEGO : Felon Flees Officer but Is Recaptured
An arrested felon escaped Sunday morning as he was being led into jail, only to be arrested again several hours later.
Rubin Macias, 20, was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant by Officer Ricky Powell at 10:30 a.m., police said. As Powell was walking Macias through the doorway of the County Jail, when Macias fled while his hands were still cuffed behind his back, police said.
Powell chased Macias on foot, but tripped and fell during the pursuit, police said. Powell was taken to UCSD Medical Center and treated for a sprained wrist and knee and minor cuts and bruises.
Macias was recaptured by other officers at 12:42 p.m. and booked on another felony charge of escape, police said.
