LANCASTER : 2 Appointed to City Commissions
A McDonald’s restaurant manager has been appointed to the Lancaster Planning Commission and a Rockwell International project engineer has joined the city’s Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission.
Newly elected Councilman George Runner named Ken Mann, 39, to the Planning Commission and Bill Behnke, 41, to the parks panel. The appointments were unanimously confirmed by the full council on Monday night.
Runner, who has lived in Lancaster since 1956, said he selected the two men partly because of their long residency in the community. Mann has lived in Lancaster 38 years, and Behnke 37 years.
“They understand what our community is and has been and can project into the future the kinds of things we want to preserve--the different kind of lifestyles here,†Runner said.
Councilman Frank Roberts, who was elected to the council with Runner last month, is expected to nominate his Planning Commission representative at the May 18 meeting, a city spokeswoman said.
