A 4-year-old Santa Paula boy was injured in a traffic accident Wednesday when he was ejected from his father’s van after it collided with a truck in downtown Santa Paula, authorities said.
The boy, Jack McCaigue, was admitted to Santa Paula Memorial Hospital with a concussion and a toe injury, and was later reported in stable condition by a nursing supervisor. He is expected to be released today, the supervisor said.
The accident occurred about 1:30 p.m. when Michael McCaigue, 26, of Santa Paula was driving west on Harvard Boulevard and failed to stop at a red light at 10th Street, Santa Paula Police Agent Troyce Reynolds said.
McCaigue’s van overturned after striking the truck driven by Javier Torres, 34, of Norco, who was driving south on 10th Street, Reynolds said.
The impact ejected Jack, who landed on a car stopped at the light, and then fell to the street, he said.
