Man Slain During Robbery in Vista

A man was killed at a Vista jewelry store Thursday afternoon in an apparent robbery that turned deadly, sheriff’s deputies said.
Details remained sketchy Thursday night, but deputies said they believed the dead man worked at Shadow Ridge Jewelers in the 1600 block of South Melrose Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.
Deputies said they had identified a suspect in the shooting, which occurred about 5:15 p.m., but had made no arrests.
