Los Angeles County supervisors voted Tuesday to extend the contract of the Pacoima Community Youth Culture Center through December.
The center, at 11243 Glenoaks Blvd., provides such services as drug-abuse counseling and self-defense workshops to youths ages 6 to 18.
A $12,000 grant was awarded for the center’s use in December from federal funds earmarked for the 3rd District, which includes Pacoima. But an additional $2,400 was needed to continue leasing space for the center through the end of the year, said Joel Bellman, press deputy for 3rd District Supervisor Ed Edelman.
The additional financing also will come from federal community development block grant funds.
