Rioting in Los Angeles
The jury’s acquittal of the four police officers was only the spark that set off the violence that is raging in Los Angeles. Joblessness and economic hopelessness are the tinder that the jury’s decision set aflame. Even during the boom years of the 1980s jobs in the inner cities were few and far between. During the current recession, bad times were made even worse.
And what has our government done to create jobs? Zero! Because Congress has been fiddling, Los Angeles was burning.
