ANAHEIM — Rockwell International Corp.’s defense unit said it will team with Honeywell Inc. to bid for future Air Force contracts to refurbish the nation’s arsenal of 500 Minuteman III nuclear missiles.
Christine Rodriguez, spokeswoman for Rockwell’s Defense Electronics unit, said the contracts could be worth several hundred million dollars. The aim of the project is to extend the life of the 1970s-era Minuteman arsenal through the year 2020.
She said Rockwell’s Autonetics Strategic Systems Division, which builds the MX nuclear missile, would work with Honeywell’s Space and Strategic Systems Operations unit of Clearwater, Fla.
