King Discussion Part of Forums
A discussion of the trial and controversial verdict in the beating of Rodney G. King will be one of the topics at a series of forums at Cal Lutheran University today, a school official said.
George T. Felkenes, author of several books on criminal procedure and the law, will will hold the talk, open to the public, at 2 p.m. in the Preus-Brandt Forum. The campus is located at 60 W. Olsen Road in Thousand Oaks.
The talk is part of a planned daylong series of presentations included in the annual Colloquium of Scholars and Honors Day. Six guest speakers will lead discussions beginning at 1 p.m. after a morning ceremony in Samuelson Chapel honoring students with outstanding academic achievements, said campus spokeswoman Jean Sandlin.
Other issues to be discussed include hazardous waste sites and public art. The speakers were selected by various university departments for their knowledge and experience in their respective areas of discussion, Sandlin said.
