INGLEWOOD : School Gym to Be Renamed in Honor of Magic Johnson
Inglewood High School’s gymnasium is being renamed for former Lakers star Earvin (Magic) Johnson.
The trustees of the Inglewood Unified School District on Wednesday unanimously voted to make the change, which was first proposed in November after Johnson announced his retirement because he had contracted the virus that causes AIDS. Johnson and his teammates frequently practiced in the high school gym.
