John Blair, who started Corona del Mar’s track and field program in 1965, announced his retirement from the program effective at the end of the school year.
Blair, 58, was head coach for track and cross-country at the school for 18 years and currently is the pole vault coach.
As a head coach, Blair’s teams won seven league championships. A longtime race director, Blair was among the first in Orange County to organize free “fun runs” for the community.
