Two suspects in the theft of a car were arrested early Tuesday after they jumped out of the vehicle they were driving and tried to flee from police on foot, officials said.

According to Brea police, a patrol officer saw the pair in the car about 2:25 a.m. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Glendale.

After spotting police, the driver stopped at the intersection of Casa Loma Avenue and Lerene Drive and the two ran from the vehicle, Brea Police Sgt. Martin Needham said. Brea police handled the incident because the department also serves Yorba Linda.

About 20 minutes after the pair fled, police arrested Ronald Daniel Amador Linden, 18, of Norwalk. Amador was apprehended after an officer saw him running across Yorba Linda Boulevard near Casa Loma Avenue.

With the help of a police dog, officers found a 17-year-old boy an hour later. The youth emerged from a back yard in the 17700 block of Heidi Circle, wearing his boxer shorts and socks, police said. However, his name was withheld because he is a juvenile.

“I can only guess that he thought we had a clothing description of him and he was hoping we wouldn’t catch him, Brea Police Lt. Chester Panique said.
