TUSTIN — A Tustin man who played the state lottery twice a week for five years has won $3.7 million, state lottery officials announced Friday.
Nestor Mabeza Sr. was the only player to pick the winning six numbers in the Super Lotto contest. The winning numbers were announced the last Saturday night, said Lottery spokeswoman Jana Matal.
Mabeza, who was not available for comment Friday, picked the numbers using birthdays of family members, Matal said. He bought the ticket at an Arco AM-PM convenience store at 14231 Red Hill Ave.
Beating odds of one in 18 million, Mabeza will receive payments of $185,000 each year for 20 years, Matal said.
Mabeza claimed his prize late Thursday at a lottery office in Orange, Matal said.
