SANTA CLARITA : Contract Approved for Widening Road
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved a contract with the state that will allow extensive widening of San Fernando Road in Santa Clarita.
Under the contract, which has been under negotiation since 1987, the state will provide the funding while the county handles the construction contract.
The first half-mile phase of the project, from near 15th Street to Lyons Avenue in the Santa Clarita Valley, will cost an estimated $2.75 million and must be completed by 1995 under the contract. The overall project will widen San Fernando Road from Valencia Boulevard to Lyons Avenue.
