COMMUNITY COLLEGE BASEBALL : Carman Leads Fullerton Past Cypress, 6-4

Tim Carman pitched a five-hitter and Mark Rushlow hit his eighth home run as Fullerton defeated Cypress, 6-4, in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game Thursday at Fullerton.
Rushlow’s home run led off the eighth inning and broke a 4-4 tie. Whit Haydon added an RBI single later in the inning to put Fullerton ahead, 6-4, and chase Cypress starter Todd Blyleven (6-3).
Carman (3-3) gave up a two-run home run to Abijah Alastra (his fourth) in the second as Cypress took a 3-1 lead. But Carman allowed only one run the rest of the way. He finished with nine strikeouts, and retired Robert Price on a called third strike to end the game. Prince fouled off seven consecutive pitches before he was caught looking.
Jason Diplock had three hits and Alex Vicario, Ramon Apodaca, Haydon and Rushlow had two hits each for Fullerton (14-12-1, 7-8 in conference). Cypress is 17-14, 6-11.
