British Labor Party Widens Lead in Poll

LONDON — The opposition Labor Party widened its lead over the ruling Conservative government in opinion polls Tuesday, just nine days before Britain’s general election.
The Harris poll, conducted for Independent Television News, said Labor had the support of 41%, the Conservatives 35% and the centrist Liberal Democrats 19%. Others made up the balance.
