SAN DIEGO : Two Held on Charge of Beating Gay Man
Two young men accused of committing hate crimes against a gay man in an assault last week in Clairemont were ordered held in lieu of $50,000 bail Tuesday.
Both Aaron Graham, 18, and Michael Favreau, 20, pleaded not guilty to assaulting Joe Grubb, 37, who remains hospitalized after his leg was broken in three places last Thursday.
San Diego Municipal Court Judge Jay Bloom scheduled a bail review for Friday and set a preliminary hearing for April 13.
Grubb was walking on the sidewalk on Clairemont Drive last Thursday at 10:15 a.m. when the two men reportedly drove by and yelled an epithet, then beat him.
