PLNC Rallies Past Pomona-Pitzer
Point Loma Nazarene College rallied from a three-run deficit to defeat visiting Pomona-Pitzer, 5-3, Monday in a nonconference baseball game. PLNC (12-14-1) scored three times in the sixth to tie it, and Ron Caton’s run-scoring double in the seventh pushed across the lead run. Mark Smith (2-0) picked up the victory in relief by allowing only two hits in 3 1/3 innings. Pomona-Pitzer fell to 8-14.
MEN’S TENNIS
UC San Diego defeated visiting Williams College, 6-3, in nonconference play. The match was tied at three after singles play, but UCSD (3-8) swept all three singles matches. The Tritons’ No. 1 doubles team of Chad Morris and John Cross defeated Dennis Geroninius and Tom Evans, 6-3, 6-3. Morris and Evans also won at No. 1 and 2 singles. Williams fell to 0-3.
