Polish Bills Target Anti-Abortion Move
Associated Press
WARSAW — Lawmakers supporting the right to abortion submitted bills to Parliament on Monday to keep the procedure legal or to settle the issue in a referendum.
The proposals counter a bill already before Parliament that would outlaw abortion, which was legalized by the Communists in 1956.
One of the measures submitted Monday would allow abortion while obliging the government to provide sex education and make contraceptives available.
